What is a Welcoming Congregation?

A Welcoming Congregation celebrates the lives of all people and their ways of expressing their love for each other.

In the fall of 2012, the Welcoming Congregation Committee was formed to develop a program that would help members of our congregation learn and discuss issues specifically to be more inclusive of members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer (LGBTQ) community. As we participate in this program, we learn more about being welcoming and inclusive to all people.

An understanding of the experience of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer persons is fully incorporated by a Welcoming Congregation throughout all programs, including religious education.
